A full-service restaurant and bar featuring signature cocktails, island-inspired cuisine and exclusive retail will open in Terminal 2.
OAKLAND, Calif. — August 27, 2026 — Trader Vic’s, the legendary hospitality brand known around the world as the Home of the Original Mai Tai®, will open its newest airport location at Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport (OAK) on August 28, bringing the spirit of tiki, travel and Bay Area hospitality back to where the story began.

Located in Terminal 2 near Gate 25, the new Trader Vic’s Outpost will offer a full-service restaurant and bar experience for travelers, with 108 dining seats, 28 bar seats and six standing-room counter spots. The location will operate daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., serving breakfast, lunch, dinner, cocktails and takeout for guests on the go.
The new location also presents a first-of-its-kind experience for OAK travelers with an adjacent restaurant from high-end grocer Plum Market, offering guests fresh, chef-crafted dining. Together, Trader Vic’s and Plum Market give travelers more ways to dine in Terminal 2, whether they have just a few minutes to spare or time to linger before takeoff.
For Trader Vic’s, the OAK opening represents more than a new airport location — it is a return to the brand’s hometown roots. Founded in the Bay Area by Victor “Trader Vic” Bergeron, Trader Vic’s helped define a global style of hospitality built around escapism, bold flavors, tropical cocktails and a spirit of discovery.
“Opening at OAK is incredibly meaningful for us,” said Rhett Rosen, CEO of Trader Vic’s Hospitality Group. “Trader Vic’s was born in the Bay Area, and this new location gives us the chance to welcome travelers with a taste of that original spirit before they take off. It brings together everything people love about Trader Vic’s — great cocktails, flavorful food, warm hospitality and a little sense of escape — in a place that connects Oakland to the world.”
“Trader Vic’s is a beloved favorite of locals and, for visitors, will offer an unforgettable first impression of Oakland. Hudson is proud to partner with Trader Vic’s, Plum Market, and OAK to bring a genuinely distinct dining option to Terminal 2,” said Steve Johnson, President & CEO, North America, Avolta. “As we grow our portfolio of hybrid concepts, Plum Market and Trader Vic’s at OAK prove that airport food and beverage can serve travelers in the moment — whether they have just a few minutes to spare and want a chef-crafted meal on the go or they have time to linger and take in the full experience.”
“Trader Vic’s is an Oakland institution and one of the region’s most recognizable hospitality brands. Travelers are increasingly seeking dining options that are memorable, locally rooted, and uniquely representative of the communities they are visiting. Trader Vic’s delivers all of that while providing a high-quality food and beverage experience for our guests. We are proud to welcome this hometown favorite to Terminal 2,” said Port of Oakland Director of Aviation Craig Simon.
The new location will follow the full-service airport dining style of Trader Vic’s successful San Jose airport location, while introducing select menu updates and offerings created specifically for Oakland travelers. Unlike San Jose, the Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport location will not include a separate grab-and-go outpost, but takeout will be available.
Guests can expect a menu that includes both new additions and familiar airport favorites. Breakfast offerings will be served alongside lunch and dinner selections, including Trader Vic’s favorites such as tuna poke and the Hawaiian ham and egg press, plus new additions including Crab Rangoon and Maui Waui Shrimp.
The bar will feature Trader Vic’s signature cocktail program, including the Original Mai Tai®, along with an Oakland-exclusive cocktail: The Rooted Road. Created as a nod to Oakland’s own history, The Rooted Road is a rum and cognac cocktail with notes of macadamia nut, chocolate and coffee — a tribute to another Oakland original, Rocky Road ice cream.
Travelers will also be able to shop a selection of Trader Vic’s mugs, merchandise and retail items, including Oakland-exclusive T-shirts, magnets, keychains and other keepsakes.
With full bar service, airport-friendly dining, takeout options and exclusive retail, the new Trader Vic’s Outpost gives travelers a new reason to arrive early.
Mai Tais, then fly.
